Reprinting a Damaged or Torn Label — Does It Affect Inventory?
📁 Category: FAQs > Labels
Question
If a printed label gets torn or damaged after it has already been applied to an item and added to inventory, can I reprint it? Will reprinting affect my inventory count?
Answer
Yes, you can reprint the label — and no, it will not affect your inventory.
Printing additional labels for an item does not change your inventory count in any way. Inventory in Square is only adjusted when:
- You manually adjust it in your Square Dashboard
- An item is received from a Purchase Order
- An item is sold through Square at the point of sale
So if a label is torn, smudged, or damaged, simply reprint it from DeliLabel or SwiftLabel as many times as needed. No inventory changes will occur.
How to Reprint a Label
- Open DeliLabel or SwiftLabel on your iPad or device.
- Find the item in your item list.
- Select the item and choose the label size.
- Print as normal.
If the damaged label was attached to an item that has already been scanned or sold, you do not need to do anything special — just reprint and reapply.
What If I Want to Remove a Bad Label from My System?
If an item was incorrectly added to inventory and you need to remove it, you can delete or adjust the item directly in your Square Dashboard. This is the only place where inventory quantities are managed.
